CHENNAI: The ruling DMK will move the court against the Election Commission of India if corrections are not carried out in the voter list, said RS Bharathi, organising secretary of the DMK.
"There are several discrepancies in the draft electoral roll. New photographs were taken from voters, but old photographs continue to appear in the voter list," Bharathi said. Questioning the ECI's announcement, he said the Commission had stated that notices would be issued to unmapped voters, but provided no clarity on who would receive them.
Reviewing the special voter camp held at Nanganallur in Chennai on Saturday, Bharathi said the Election Commission had announced four special camps for voter name inclusion and deletion, of which only one had been conducted so far. "Three more camps are yet to be held.
The voter list must be corrected. Otherwise, we will file a case in court," he said. Alleging that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) was carried out hurriedly, Bharathi said this had resulted in the omission of a large number of voters' names from the rolls.
Meanwhile, DMK functionaries and their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) reviewed the voter camps conducted by the Election Department across the State on Saturday.
