Interacting with the media, he said this was the 11th year the annual event was being conducted and added that this year, the three-day event would see the participation of 12,500 students from eight countries and from 300 universities and colleges in India.
Stating that prize money was higher than usual at this annual event, he said this year total prize money of Rs 22 lakh was up for grabs. Nearly 50 engineering companies had also sought participation, he added.
VIT university vice president Sekar Viswanathan said that NASA scientist from India, Meyappan, was also expected to participate and interact with students while scientists and technical experts from India’s leading technical institutions like ISRO, DRDO and CLRI were expected to make their presence felt at the event.
