CHENNAI: AIADMK former minister D Jayakumar has criticised TVK president actor Vijay, stating that he is unfit to be the leader of a political party.

Speaking to reporters after paying tributes at the Anna Memorial on Marina Beach on the occasion of the former Chief Minister CN Annadurai's death anniversary, Jayakumar said that those who lack any qualification to talk about the AIADMK have now started criticising the party.

He questioned whether Vijay could disclose how much of his salary from acting in films is collected as black money, how much is truly legal, and how much income tax he pays.

Jayakumar further asked what kind of qualification Vijay has (to criticise AIADMK) when he dines at the house of Aadhav Arjuna, who earns a living from lottery money.

Referring to the Karur tragedy, killing 41 at the TVK chief's rally, Jayakumar questioned how the families of the deceased would feel when Vijay danced at the party's 2nd anniversary event, without any sense of guilt. He criticised that someone without compassion or humanity is unfit to be the leader of a political party.

Stating that the upcoming Assembly elections are essentially between the AIADMK and the DMK, Jayakumar mocked Vijay by saying that he was entering politics in Vadivelu-style, as if declaring, 'I too am a rowdy'.

Meanwhile, AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran questioned how Vijay can criticise the AIADMK as a corrupt party when it has inducted its former leader, Sengottaiyan.

Speaking to reporters after paying floral tributes at Anna's memorial, Dhinakaran said, Vijay is not our enemy.

We have only one enemy, and that is the DMK. Those who had earlier split politically have now come together as an alliance with the sole aim of defeating the DMK. I believe that O Panneerselvam will, in some way, help the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance win the elections, he said.

Meanwhile, VK Sasikala, late AIADMK supremo J Jayalithaa's aide, has stated that she will drive out the DMK government using her 39 years of political experience.
