Two dead in firecracker factory blast in Sivakasi

CHENNAI: Two workers were killed in a massive explosion at a firecracker factory near Sivakasi on Thursday.

The blast occurred at a licensed fireworks unit operating in Namaskarithanpatti near Sivakasi while the workers were engaged in work. Two workers died on the spot.

After the explosion, a massive fire engulfed the factory, according to PTI.

Fire and Rescue Service personnel are currently engaged in dousing the flames.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
