In a statement, Vijay said the shocking attack had triggered fear and shockwaves among the public, exposing the ruling government’s failure to anticipate and prevent youth from straying onto violent paths. “This incident lays bare the apathy and irresponsibility of an administration that appears indifferent to the moral and social decay of the younger generation,” he said.

He alleged that the breakdown of law and order and the unchecked spread of narcotics were destroying the future of the youth. Pointing to the lack of meaningful education, employment opportunities, innovation and encouragement for new initiatives, Vijay questioned the purpose of governance under such circumstances.

Urging immediate action, he called on the government to at least use the remainder of its tenure to completely curb the circulation of drugs and restore public safety.
