

CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) on Friday called on Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan at Lok Bhavan and held a discussion for about 20 minutes, sources said.
The meeting was formally described as a courtesy call, during which both leaders exchanged pleasantries and inquired about each other's well-being and family members. However, EPS is learnt to have also shared his views on the prevailing political situation in Tamil Nadu and discussed several issues related to the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Sources indicated that EPS conveyed specific messages to the Vice-President, which are expected to be passed on to the BJP high command. They also clarified that no senior BJP leaders were present or involved in the meeting.
Later in the day, Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan attended a civic reception hosted by Governor RN Ravi at the Lok Bhavan premises to felicitate him on his election as Vice-President. Several dignitaries, including IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti, were present and congratulated him.
Union Minister of State L Murugan accompanied the Vice-President during the event.
