The new omnibus stand was built on four acres next to the KKBT, at a cost of Rs 17.60 crore, including a contribution of Rs 8.80 crore from the Tiruchy City Corporation. The bus stand has three platforms in a total area of 30,849 sq ft., which houses as many as 58 bus bays including 24 waiting bays.

Apart from basic amenities like restrooms, 55 CCTV cameras, and RO plants, the state-of-the-art facilities at the new bus stand include high-mast lights, LED smart displays, public address systems, and a cloak room spanning 2,340 sq ft for passengers' comfort.

The minister also said that the omnibus stand will have adequate cleanliness staff to ensure a clean environment and the proper security personnel on duty.

Meanwhile, the minister said that the KKBT has received enormous support from the public across the state, and the omnibus stand would also attract the people similarly. He also said that the new wholesale market, which is close to the omnibus stand, is almost completed and it would be dedicated to the public by the end of January. "We have sought time from the Chief Minister for the inauguration of the wholesale market," Nehru added.
