TN govt welcomes applicants for Kalpana Chawla Award
The Kalpana Chawla Award is given every year by the Tamil Nadu Government to a brave woman who has performed an act of courage and bravery during the Independence Day celebration.

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government is inviting applications for the Kalpana Chawla Award.
The Kalpana Chawla Award is given every year by the Tamil Nadu Government to a brave woman who has performed an act of courage and bravery during the Independence Day celebration.
All the details can be uploaded by applicants on the Tamil Nadu Government Awards website (https://awards.tn.gov.in) from May 16 - June 16.
A woman who has performed an act of bravery will be awarded a gold-plated silver medal along with a cash prize of Rs. 5,00,000/-
Eligibility criteria:
- Must be a native of Tamil Nadu and above the age of 18.
- Must have performed acts of courage and bravery.
- Applicants should be registered in Tamil (Marutham font) and English (Vardana font) languages.
Those who have applied on the website should go to the concerned District Social Welfare Office in person and submit the following:
- Applicant's concept note (Booklet - 4) Tamil-2, English-2 should be prepared and submitted in booklet format.
- Table of contents (Index) with page number.
- Applicant's biography and passport size photographs -2.
- Attachment - Form I & II, Tamil (in Marutham font) and English should be completely filled in. (Soft copy & Hard copy).
- One page written description about the experience undertaken with courage and bravery.
