CHENNAI: BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran on Saturday strongly criticised the ruling DMK government over the death of a four-year-old boy who fell into an open pit dug for underground sewerage work in Namakkal district, calling the incident a grim reminder of official apathy and administrative failure.
In a statement, Nainar Nagenthran said the tragic death of the child, Rohith, at Chinna Mudhalaipatti was deeply condemnable and held the State government squarely responsible. He expressed his condolences to the grieving parents, who lost their son due to what he described as the government's reckless and indifferent approach to public safety.
"The DMK government's negligence has claimed the life of an innocent child," he said, alleging that basic safety norms were ignored at worksites. With barely three months left for the government's term, he accused the administration of rushing through projects merely to show accounts, while failing to execute them responsibly.
Questioning the ruling party's governance claims, the BJP leader asked whether such incidents reflected the model administration often projected by Chief Minister MK Stalin. Nainar further alleged that the DMK government, which had troubled people over the past four-and-a-half years through misgovernance, was now turning into a regime that even endangered children's lives.
The BJP legislature leader asserted that the people of Tamil Nadu would not allow the DMK to return to power, stating that such negligence would not be forgotten or forgiven.
