TN Arts & Science college admissions: UG courses in commerce, computer science favourite picks
A senior official from the directorate said that more than 2.36 lakh applications and admissions were completed for the academic year 2024-25.

CHENNAI: In less than two weeks, students’ enrolment in Arts and Science colleges has so far crossed 1.2 lakh. BCom and BSc Computer Science continue to remain the favourite among students.
Sources from the Directorate of Collegiate Education, under Higher Education Department, which controls all the Arts and Science colleges in TN, said that over 1.21 lakh applications have been received in various courses. Of the total, 88,045 students have paid the registration fees.
A senior official from the directorate said that more than 2.36 lakh applications and admissions were completed for the academic year 2024-25. “This year, admission is expected to touch 2.5 lakh since the State government has allowed to increase 20% seat capacity for all government colleges. Last date for registration is May 27,” he added.
For students who do not have internet access, enrolment will be done through the help of Admission Facilitation Centre-2025 at the Government Arts College in each district. “All the details including instructions for enrolment (English and Tamil), booklet, list of colleges and required documents to be uploaded will be available in https://www.tngasa.in/,” he pointed out.
With regard to engineering admissions, the Higher Education Minister, in a statement, said that over 1.69 lakh students have enrolled for the admissions as on May 16. “Of the total registrations, more than 1.02 lakh students have paid the registration fees. Students can enrol till June 6,” he stated. “Engineering aspirants can also register through the 110 students’ facilitation centres established across districts.”
