Tamil Nadu records 5,883 fresh COVID-19 cases and 118 fatalities in single day

Tamil Nadu has recorded 5,883 fresh coronavirus cases on Saturday, according to the state's health department. 

The state saw 118 fatalities owing to Covid-19 infections today. Tamil Nadu has been registering 100+ Covid deaths in the past three days. Though the number of new cases are below 6k, the death toll is seeing a slight surge. 

The total number of Covid affected have rose to 2.90 lakhs in the state now. The total fatalities have increased to 4,808 in total. 

Chennai city has detected 986 new cases in the past 24 hours. Other districts in the state have recorded 4,897 fresh corona cases. The total number of infected people in Chennai has increased to 1,08,124.
