CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has ordered the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to inquire into corruption allegations levelled by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against senior DMK leader and Municipal Administration and Water Supply Minister K N Nehru, based on two letters sent by the central agency, even as the Madras High Court is set to hear a petition against the minister on January 9 or 12, said a Thanthi TV report.
The ED had written twice to the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police, seeking registration of a case and alleging that Minister Nehru was involved in corruption to the tune of Rs 1,020 crore.
Citing the materials shared by the ED, AIADMK MP Inbadurai had earlier lodged a complaint with the DVAC.
Meanwhile, Inbadurai on Wednesday filed a petition before the Madras High Court, urging it to direct the DVAC to immediately register an FIR against the minister, taking the ED’s complaint as the basis.
