Minister says legal expertise sought on SC ruling of mandatory TET

TIRUCHY: State Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on Tuesday assured that the government will always be with the teachers and has been discussing with the legal experts to find a solution for the Supreme Court's ruling on mandatory Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for all teachers.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event organised in view of upgrading the Government High School to a Higher Secondary school at KK Nagar in Tiruchy, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said, as many as 20 high schools across the state have been upgraded from High School to Higher Secondary School.
He pointed out that the Supreme Court has ruled that the clearing of TET is mandatory for every school teacher, including those who are already in service.
He urged the teachers not to panic, as the state government will always be with the teachers.
“We are waiting for the complete details of the order and we are planning for a discussion with the legal experts and then we would apply for an appeal,” the minister said.
He also said that the teachers' unions are preparing to approach the court with an appeal.
“At any cost, the government will never let you down”, assured Poyyamozhi.
He appealed to the teachers to have faith in the government as it always supports them and fulfil the demands one by one, and asked them not to panic about the order as the issue would be solved as early as possible.
