CHENNAI: The school education department has announced that the annual examinations for classes 1-9 will commence on April 6.
The examinations will end on April 16, in view of the Assembly elections scheduled for April 23.
Additionally, the summer holidays for students of these classes will be from April 17 to May 31.
Earlier, the exams were supposed to be held from April 10 to April 24. However, as many schools will be used as polling stations, the department decided to advance exams.
