CHENNAI: Signalling an early and focused push for the forthcoming Assembly elections, the BJP in the State has identified 49 priority Assembly constituencies and appointed 11 senior leaders as in-charges to spearhead intensive, ground-level mobilisation, well ahead of formal seat-sharing negotiations.

Party state president Nainar Nagenthran said the move is aimed at building organisational depth, consolidating booth-level strength and sharpening constituency-specific strategies across select urban and semi-urban pockets. Each leader has been entrusted with between two and seven constituencies, together covering 49 segments.

Among the allocations, the party's national secretary Arvind Menon has been assigned seven constituencies - Nagercoil, T Nagar, Pattukottai, Hosur, Vellore, Rajapalayam and Kinathukadavu, while the party's national co-incharge Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy will oversee Colachel, Velachery, Vikravandi, Thalli, Coimbatore North, Kavundampalayam and Madurai North.

L Murugan has been given charge of five constituencies and K Annamalai six. Pon Radhakrishnan and H Raja will handle four each, Tamilisai Soundararajan five, while Vanathi Srinivasan, VP Duraisamy and AG Sambath have been allotted three each. M Chakravarthy has been assigned two constituencies.

In the identified segments, the in-charges will undertake sustained tours, hold meetings with community leaders, election teams and party cadres, visit Shakti Kendras and booths, and work in coordination with other NDA partners to fine-tune winning strategies.

In a detailed note to the leaders, Nainar Nagenthran outlined the campaign's roadmap. Each in-charge is expected to conduct at least two full tours of the allotted constituencies, spending a minimum of 24 hours per visit, including overnight stays. The plan mandates structured interactions with community leaders, Assembly-level committees, district and mandal office-bearers, booth and Shakti Kendra functionaries, and one-on-one conversations with workers.

"The sole objective is constituency victory, through time-bound work, coordination and unified effort with NDA partners," he said, stressing that the exercise would be continuous and tailored to local needs.

Meanwhile, the party's election manifesto committee has begun a statewide tour on Friday. The committee will spend a week in each district, meeting stakeholders to collect demands and suggestions, which will feed into the preparation of the BJP's Assembly poll manifesto.
