Tamil Nadu announces 3 free LPG cylinders a year under Annapoorani Super Six scheme

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has announced the “Annapoorani Super Six” scheme under which eligible families will receive the benefit of three free LPG cylinders every year, with the cost of the cylinders being credited directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

The scheme, announced under Rule 110 of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, is expected to benefit around 1.30 crore families. It will be implemented from the Pongal festival in January, with an annual allocation of approximately Rs 4,000 crore for the scheme.

Families with an annual income of up to Rs 2.5 lakh will be eligible to benefit from the scheme. Economically disadvantaged families, small and marginal farmers, families of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable sections of society will be covered under the initiative.
