Responding to the letter of the secretary of Personnel and Administrative reforms inviting him for Monday’s meeting to be chaired by the Chief Minister, Stalin said that it would not be fair on his part to attend the selection committee meeting which does not have even a bit of transparency.

Recalling the secretary’s letter suggesting that the recommendation of the search committee would be taken up for discussion during the meeting, the Leader of Opposition said that the letter did not carry information pertaining to the number of candidates who had applied for the post of Chief Information Commissioner or their details.

He also alleged that in not providing the basic information, he has been denied the opportunity to make healthy suggestions in his capacity as the selection committee member. “I feel that the government has finalised the candidate and it was conducting a namesake meeting without providing details pertaining to the applicants as it was not ready to conduct a transparent selection,” Stalin said. The procedure adopted now for selecting a post to ensure transparency in administration would not bode well for democracy in any way and the government was attempting to cover up information related toits corruption.
