Seven districts in Tamil Nadu including Chennai to receive heavy rain on Jan 24

CHENNAI: Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Chennai and seven other districts on Saturday (January 24), according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai.

Heavy Rain Alert

The weather department said that due to a lower atmospheric circulation prevailing over southern India, heavy rain is likely at one or two places in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Cuddalore districts, as well as in Puducherry, on Saturday. Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places.

Rainfall Forecast

On Friday (January 23), light to moderate rain is likely at a few places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Interior Tamil Nadu may receive rain at isolated locations. On January 25 and 26, similar light to moderate rainfall is expected at a few places over interior Tamil Nadu and at isolated places over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Chennai Weather

The sky over Chennai and its suburbs on Friday is expected to be partly cloudy, with light to moderate rain at a few places. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 28–29°C, while the minimum temperature may be around 22°C. On Saturday, the city may witness moderate to heavy rain with thunder and lightning in some areas, with temperatures remaining largely unchanged.
