COIMBATORE: Dismissing allegations of criticism on TVK leader Vijay over his earnings through black money from films, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader KA Sengottaiyan on Wednesday asked for proof against such allegations.
“The AIADMK functionaries should refrain from making such irresponsible remarks without evidence," he said, while speaking to the media at Gobichettipalayam in Erode.
Former AIADMK minister Dindigul C Sreenivasan had recently accused Vijay of earning income through black money and failing to pay taxes.
Taking a dig at AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami for making desperate attempts to re-induct estranged functionaries into his party, the TVK’s high-level administrative committee chief co-ordinator said it was his appeal for unity that led to his removal from the party.
“I had served in AIADMK for more than 50 years. Yet, I was removed when I appealed for unity in the party. But Palaniswami has now been making efforts to bring back the estranged functionaries,” he said.
To a query on whether TVK would go it alone in the upcoming assembly polls, Sengottaiyan just said, “Wait and see. Silence is a sign of victory.”
Exuding confidence on TVKs growing popularity, the nine-time legislator said the voice of TVK echoes in all households in Tamil Nadu. “The sole aim of Vijay is to transform Tamil Nadu into the best in the country. People are eager for TVK to form a government. In all the 234 assembly constituencies, whoever Vijay points out will become the MLA,” he said.
While declaring his intention to contest from the Gobichettipalayam assembly constituency, Sengottaiyan said that he will submit his nomination at the party headquarters in Chennai on Friday to contest from the constituency.
When pressed for comments on the union budget, he said that the party would speak about it after coming to power.
