Chugging around, carrying the theme of Climate Action, the train started its journey in New Delhi on February 17. It has so far visited Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
The train will enter Tamil Nadu from Andhra Pradesh and will continue its journey to Puducherry on June 15 and 16. The Science Express’s Tamil Nadu visit will commence at Attur in Salem, where it will stay for three days from June 17. From Attur the train will go to Karur on June 20 for another three days.
From Karur the train will proceed to Kodai Road station in Dindigul district, Virudhunagar and end the state leg of the tour at Arumuganeri on June 30. It will further go to Kerala and reach Maharashtra through the Konkan coast and conclude its journey on September 8 at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. Science Express is a mobile exhibition train operated by the Ministry of Railways in association with Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Environment and Forest.
The train would feature various aspects of climate change such as nature conservation, international climate change negotiations and recent advancements in biotechnology to combat global warming.
