The proposed measure would benefit the rural people to access the facilities through manual computing devices (MCD), said Post Master Genereal (Central Region) Ambesh Upmanyu here, on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters, Ambesh said the India Post would be celebrating the Postal Week from October 15 during which various programmes would be organised. The postal department has planned to organise a special programme on each day. Students from schools and colleges would be roped in to present programmes which would be aimed at creating awareness among the people about various services offered by the postal department to the people.
Meanwhile, Ambesh said, as many as 12 postal banks have been started in the central region in which 21,255 accounts, including 159 current accounts, have been opened. So far 60 post offices have been linked with the banks and other post offices would be linked before December, he
added.
