TIRUCHY: A 17-year-old youth from Pudukkottai was reportedly murdered by a rival gang. The police have secured three persons and are investigating.
Anbu Selvan, a resident of Perumanadu near Annavasal in Pudukkottai, was working in a private firm in Hosur after completing his ITI. It is said that in 2024, a dispute occurred between his relative Sathyaraj and his maternal uncle Muruganandam over a wage distribution in a construction work. One particular day, Anbu Selvan, along with his uncle Muruganandam, quarrelled with Sathyaraj and attacked him with lethal weapons. Sathyaraj, who sustained severe injuries, died on the spot. A case was registered against Anbu Selvan and Muruganandnam, and investigations were under way.
With a murder case pending against Anbu Selvan, his parents sent him to Hosur, advising him to stay there until the case is over.
In such a scenario, on Thursday, Anbu Selvan came to his native village for an inquiry. On Thursday night, his friends had taken Anbu Selvan’s bike and asked him to get it back near a Tasmac outlet at Perumanadu. In the late hours, when Anbu Selvan went to Perumanadu to take back his bike, a gang surrounded him and attacked him with lethal weapons. He died on the spot.
On information, Annavasal police rushed to the spot, retrieved his body and sent it to Pudukkottai Government Medical College for a post-mortem. Meanwhile, the police secured three persons and are conducting an interrogation.
