

CHENNAI: Electricity Minister V Senthilbalaji on Friday said that a review meeting will be held on October 10th on precautionary measures to be taken for Northeast monsoon.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat in Chennai, he said, "A review meeting will be held at the Electricity Board office on Anna Salai in Chennai on October 10 on the precautionary measures to be taken by the electricity department as the monsoon is set to begin soon. Officials across Tamil Nadu have been instructed to participate through video conference and those in Chennai to participate in person. In the review meeting, various advisories will be issued on keeping earth wires, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment in sub-stations on standby. Steps to provide uninterrupted power supply to all hospitals, important government offices, sewage pumping stations, overhead tanks, and drinking water supply will be discussed.”
He added that it would be instructed to complete the works in the final stage expeditiously. "The Northeast monsoon is likely to set in on October 20. As a result, precautionary measures for in the power sector have been going on continuously for the past few months.”
