TIRUCHY: Actor-politician Vijay's father, SA Chandrasekhar, on Wednesday suggested that the Congress party consider aligning with TVK to revive the party's 'lost glory' and said that his son cannot be blackmailed with his movie's release. "He is not just an actor; he became a politician two years ago," he said.

Chandrasekhar claimed that the Congress, which was fighting for independence, had shrunk in its stature. "It is because Congress has been supporting a certain state party that it lost its face. It is time, the Congress should align with Vijay as he has promised power sharing," Chandrasekhar added.

"Dravidian parties have been ruling Tamil Nadu for the past 60 years. In this scenario, newcomers in politics would struggle but at the same time, they would work fiercely to get a space in Tamil Nadu politics," he told reporters in Tiruvarur. The director added that Vijay's entry into politics has brought a positive change and that the TN youth will drive Vijay to success.

Stating that people from all walks of life understand why Vijay's latest movie Jana Nayagan was not released, Chandrasekhar said that his son does not care about this as he has not been mixing cinema with politics. "He has been travelling in the right path and will win in it," he said.
