CHENNAI: A petition filed by PMK founder S Ramadoss before the Madras High Court, challenging a letter allotting the Mango symbol to the party and addressed to Anbumani Ramadoss, issued by the Election Commission, is scheduled to be heard on February 2.
The case comes amid an ongoing dispute between party president Anbumani and founder Ramadoss over the leadership and control of the PMK. The Election Commission had sent a letter to Anbumani’s authorised agent stating that the Mango symbol had been allotted to the party.
Challenging this communication, Ramadoss has sought to quash the letter and has urged the court to direct the poll body to issue the symbol-related communication to his authorised agent instead.
The petition alleged that despite Anbumani’s term as party president having ended in May 2025, he submitted forged documents claiming continuation in the post. It has also been contended that Anbumani cannot claim any right over the party by convening meetings without the approval of the party founder.
The plea further pointed out that before the Delhi High Court, the Election Commission had assured that the Mango symbol would be frozen and not be allotted to anyone. However, the symbol has not been frozen so far, the plea alleged.
The matter is listed for hearing before a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice MM Shrivastava and Justice G Arul Murugan.
