CHENNAI: Escalating the bitter power struggle with his son and former Union minister Anbumani Ramadoss for control of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), party founder S Ramadoss on Monday expelled three MLAs identified with the Anbumani camp for alleged anti-party activities.

In a statement, PMK general secretary Murali Shankar said the disciplinary action committee had sought explanations from the legislators through letters sent on July 20, 2025, but had received no response, either in person, by phone, or in writing, to the party founder and president.

He alleged that the MLAs continued to engage in activities detrimental to the party even after the notices.

Consequently, Mayilam MLA S Sivakumar, Mettur MLA S Sadasivam and Dharmapuri MLA SP Venkateswaran, who had earlier been placed under temporary suspension, have now been expelled from the party.

The expulsion, effective January 12, 2026, covers their primary membership as well as all party posts held by them, the statement said.

The party leadership has also instructed PMK members not to maintain any form of party-related contact with the three expelled legislators.

Earlier, the Anbumani-led faction had expelled Pennagaram MLA GK Mani and Salem (West) MLA R Arul, supporters of party founder Ramadoss, underscoring the deepening split within the Vanniyar party.
