

CHENNAI: Light rainfall is likely in the coastal districts of south Tamil Nadu and along the Western Ghats over the next two days, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), said a report by Daily Thanthi.
A trough of low pressure extending from the interior districts of Tamil Nadu to north interior Karnataka at an altitude of about 0.9 km is influencing the current weather conditions.
Light rain is expected at one or two places in south coastal Tamil Nadu and Western Ghats districts on April 1 and 2, while the rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to remain dry. On April 3, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at isolated places in these regions, with dry conditions prevailing elsewhere.
Rainfall activity may pick up slightly on April 4, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms likely in parts of south Tamil Nadu and Western Ghats districts, along with light rain in a few other areas.
From April 5 to 6, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is likely at a few places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
On April 7, similar conditions are expected to continue in south Tamil Nadu, north coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, while north interior Tamil Nadu may remain dry.
There is no significant change expected in maximum temperatures on April 1 and 2. However, from April 3 to 5, temperatures may gradually rise by 2–3°C.
While temperatures are likely to remain near normal initially, they may become around 2°C above normal at a few places later in the week.
Chennai and its suburbs are expected to witness partly cloudy skies over the next two days, with maximum temperatures around 34–35°C and minimum temperatures around 25–26°C.
