Railways announce schedules for three Amrit Bharat trains linking Tamil Nadu and West Bengal

The departure timings of these three trains from stations in Tamil Nadu are yet to be announced, and an official announcement is expected soon.

CHENNAI: The Railways have released the departure schedule for three new Amrit Bharat Express trains approved to operate between Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

According to the schedule, the Jalpaiguri–Tiruchy Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 02609) will depart Jalpaiguri at 1.45 pm on January 17 and reach Tiruchy at 2.15 pm on the third day.

The train will run via Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai, Chidambaram, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tambaram and Egmore.

The Chandrakachi–Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 06108) will leave Chandrakachi at 2.45 pm on January 18 and arrive at Tambaram at 6.45 pm the following day, operating via Egmore, Sullurpet and Nellore.

Similarly, the Jalpaiguri–Nagercoil Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 02603) will depart Jalpaiguri at 1.45 pm on January 17 and reach Nagercoil at 7.15 pm on the third day. This service will operate via Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Udumalpet, Palani, Dindigul and Madurai.

Each Amrit Bharat train can accommodate up to 1,834 passengers and is equipped with facilities such as CCTV surveillance and modern passenger information systems.

Amrit Bharat trains, designed as a non-AC alternative comparable to Vande Bharat services, are aimed at making long-distance travel affordable and accessible to all sections of society. Tamil Nadu’s first Amrit Bharat train is currently operating between Erode and Jogbani in Bihar.

The departure timings of these three trains from stations in Tamil Nadu are yet to be announced, and an official announcement is expected soon.
