CHENNAI: Students of Queen Mary’s College in Chennai on Tuesday thanked Chief Minister MK Stalin by presenting him with roses for providing laptops under a State government scheme.
The students met the Chief Minister when he stopped at the college on his way to the Secretariat. They gathered with the laptops distributed by the government and expressed their gratitude.
CM Stalin recently launched the first phase of the ‘Ulagam Ungal Kaiyil’ (the world in your hands) scheme, under which 10 lakh laptops are being distributed to students studying in government and government-aided colleges, as well as to beneficiaries from marginalised sections.
Students told the Chief Minister that the laptops were provided when many of them were unable to afford one at home, especially as they were in their final year of college.
They also said they had benefited from skill training programmes conducted under the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme, through which they learnt artificial intelligence-related skills and English communication skills.
