It is located at an altitude varying from 500 meters to 1,000 meters. The hill range has enormous species of animal life and bird life and has a varying temperature that ranges up to 27-degree celsius.

The two rivers — Kallar and Sweata flow through the region. You can also view the amazing beauty of three waterfalls, which include Mangalam Aruvi, Koraiyar Falls, and Mayil Uthu Falls. Pachamalai is a major tourist attraction place in Tiruchy and is being developed into a tourism spot by the forest department. The landscape is awe-inspiring and is visited mostly by tourists to enjoy the greenery. If you love to trek, this is the best place to go on trekking because the indigenous flora and fauna are worth to see. Small towns namely Thuraiyur, Esanai, Elambalur, Perambalur, Gangavalli, Thammampatti, Arumbavur, Malayalappatti, Thedavur, and Uppiliapuram surrounds the hill and you can witness the rich culture of the local tribal people called Malayalis (not to be confused with Malayali of Kerala). They trade some of their surplus agricultural products they grow in the hills, at towns on the plains for items not available in the hills.

The Veera Ramar Dam, built across River Kallar is another tourist spot at Pachamalai. A few years ago, the Forest Department had constructed tree-top houses on Pachamalai Hills to attract more tourists. Each house has the capacity to accommodate four visitors and is built on a 10-acre expanse at Top Sengattupatti.

You can take a bus from Tiruchy Chathiram Bus Station to Thuraiyur and from there connecting buses are available to Pachamalai Hills. The overall travel duration from Tiruchy to Pachamali is approximatelyone hour 35 minutes.
