NILGIRIS: Train services on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) were disrupted following a landslide between Adderley and Hillgrove stations, triggered by heavy overnight rainfall across the Nilgiris district.

The train that departed from Mettupalayam to Ooty on Friday (January 2) morning was cancelled midway and returned to Mettupalayam.

The sudden cancellation left several tourists disappointed, as the Nilgiri Mountain Railway is a key tourist attraction.

Similar landslides were reported in several parts of Nilgiris district, after widespread rain caused by atmospheric circulation affected the southern districts, according to Daily Thanthi.
