

TIRUCHY: Chief Minister MK Stalin is scheduled to inaugurate buildings worth Rs 360 crore under the health department on February 6, said State Health Minister Ma Subramanian here on Saturday.
After inaugurating the Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme at Ponmalai in Tiruchy, Ma Subramanian told the reporters that for the first time in the country, a 14-year-old girl was administered the HPV vaccination in Tamil Nadu.
“Out of as many as 1,256 medical camps under Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme, 1,076 have been conducted so far, and the remaining camps would be held before February, and 14.16 lakh people have benefited under the scheme so far”, the minister said.
Stating that the medical infrastructure has become very strong ever since DMK came to power, and now, 17 districts have the headquarters government hospitals, and a fund of Rs 1,078 crore has been allocated for 19 more headquarters Government Hospitals.
On February 6, the Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate buildings, including district headquarters hospital, PHCs , research centres and microbiological research centre at Guindy, together at an estimated cost of Rs 360 crore.
He also said that a new building for Tiruchy GH at an estimated cost of Rs 135 crore has been completed, and cancer screening centres would also be established in Tiruchy on par with Chennai, Madurai and Thanjavur. The new facility would be dedicated for public use within three weeks, the minister added.
