NDA complete, no 'whistle' needed, says Tamilisai

Rejecting reports that Vijay had been summoned to Delhi for alliance discussions, Tamilisai said such claims were baseless and imaginary. In a pointed remark, she said, "We don't need a whistle now. The cooker has a whistle. Many more parties will join the NDA. Thirumavalavan need not worry about our alliance. The NDA is fully intact."

CHENNAI: Dismissing speculation over possible alliance talks with actor Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), BJP election manifesto committee head Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday asserted that the NDA in Tamil Nadu was complete and did not require any new political appendages ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

Addressing reporters after chairing a BJP manifesto committee meeting at Kamalalayam, she targeted the INDIA bloc, "It is the INDI Alliance that is incomplete. They are simmering within, and no one knows when it will explode."

Responding to Chief Minister MK Stalin's 'double-engine government' quip, Tamilisai countered that BJP governments in several states were functioning with a triple-engine model. In contrast, she alleged, the DMK was running a trouble-engine government, failing both in maintaining law and order and in implementing welfare schemes. "Nurses, doctors, sanitation workers and noon-meal staff are all on the streets protesting," she said.

The former governor said the BJP would consult stakeholders across sectors while drafting its election manifesto. "It will be centred on people's development. The manifesto will be so comprehensive that even you will praise it. Our alliance will certainly win the 2026 election," she added.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA and Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Srinivasan launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK government, accusing it of surviving on sticker politics and relentless opposition to the Centre.

Speaking to reporters after the Assembly session, she said the State had failed to respond to allegations raised by the Governor on women's safety and lack of investment inflow.

"The DMK keeps alleging that funds are denied, but refuses to answer basic questions on irregularities," she said, adding that corruption charges against ministers remained unanswered under what she termed family rule.
