SALEM: The State has increased the discharge from the Mettur dam to 1,500 cusecs to meet drinking water requirements, up from 1,000 cusecs that had been released over the past few months.

The revised discharge came on Friday morning, with the Water Resources Department citing increased demand for drinking water.

As of Friday (July 31) morning, the inflow into the dam was 42 cusecs, while the water level stood at 73.49 feet.
