CHENNAI: Challenging sharp remarks made by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray at a joint rally in Mumbai, former BJP state president K Annamalai on Monday said he would not be cowed down by threats and would visit Mumbai despite attempts to intimidate him.

Annamalai reacted strongly to Raj Thackeray's description of him as "Rasmalai" and the provocative slogan "Hatao lungi, bajao pungi", used at the UBT–MNS rally ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections.

They are saying that my legs will be cut if I come to Mumbai. I will be in Mumbai. If you can, cut my legs

Questioning the basis of the attacks, he asked, "Who are Aditya Thackeray and Raj Thackeray to threaten me? Three Thackerays are holding meetings to insult me. Insulting me is not new, but they are insulting Tamils by mocking people who wear veshti and lungi. That is what is shocking."
