The farmers claimed that the state government is yet to distribute the relief for the kin of farmers who committed suicide due to drought in 2016.
They said that the apex court had ordered to identify any possibility to waive the agriculture loans availed of from all the banks. The court had also directed all the banks not to attach their property for failingto repay the amount.
The farmers have decided to stage a protest in front of the Chief Minister’s house, demanding to implement the order of the apex court and waive all the loans irrespective of the banks they had availed of them.
On Thursday morning, the farmers who gathered in front of the Tiruchy junction railway station, staged a protest in support of their demands. While speaking to the reporters, farmers’ leader P Ayyakannu said they would stage a sit-in protest in front of the house. “If we are not allowed to enter the house, a mega protest would be organised in Chennai,” he said.
