TIRUCHY: Municipal Administration Minister and DMK principal secretary KN Nehru mocked the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), claiming that the whole world knows the first set of election promises announced by its chief, Edappadi Palaniswami, are no more than a copy-and-paste of the ruling government's existing schemes.
The minister underscored the efforts of the MK Stalin-led party, which has been travelling across the State to collect inputs from stakeholders to draft a people's manifesto for the forthcoming Assembly polls.
But, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami is lazy enough in trying to steal from the DMK manifesto of the 2021 Assembly polls, Nehru said. The DMK leaders are sweating hard before finalising the election manifesto for the upcoming election, he added.
“The manifesto committee of the DMK is travelling across the State and meeting the stakeholders to arrive at a decision. In contrast, Edappadi Palaniswami is looking from where he can take photostat copies of schemes and announcements," Nehru said.
Nehru pointed out that Edappadi Palaniswami had said the Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, which extended Rs 1,000, was not feasible, but after the DMK made it possible, he now assures that he would hike it to Rs 2,000.
What is new in the AIADMK chief's announcement if he says the existing free bus travel for women would be extended to men as well, Nehru questioned. However, people are well aware that the AIADMK will never fulfil their promises, he added. “So, the DMK will emerge victorious in the upcoming Assembly polls with the people’s support”, Nehru added.
Meanwhile, Nehru stated that the women's conference scheduled for Sengipatti in Thanjavur would be a grand success and prove that the Delta region is with the DMK. He said that at least 1.50 lakh cadres would take part in the conference. Works for the conference have been underway, and transport facilities and other basic amenities would be arranged for the participants, he said.
