CHENNAI: The Udangudi thermal power plant project should be completed by January 2026, Chief Minister MK Stalin instructed officials.
The Chief Minister issued the instruction while chairing a review meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday to assess the progress of flagship infrastructure projects. At present, 288 projects worth Rs 3,17,693 crore are under active monitoring, of which 85 have been completed, while the rest are in various stages of execution.
During the review of 27 major projects that are being implemented at a total cost of Rs 87,941 crore across six departments, the Chief Minister stressed that all pending works should be completed within the stipulated timelines.
Officials from the Industries Department informed that construction of the Mini TIDEL Park at Sivaganga has been completed. However, the Safety Park at Sulur and the Medical Equipment Manufacturing Park at Oragadam are still in progress. The Chief Minister instructed that these projects must be completed by February 2026.
In a statement, the government said that Chief Minister Stalin also reviewed the progress of the Udangudi thermal power project and emphasised its timely completion to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the peak summer season.
Stalin also directed officials to complete the new government hospital in Tiruchy, named after Mahatma Gandhi, and the proposed environmental park in the Nilgiris by February 2026.
Chief Secretary N Muruganandam, TNEB chairman J Radhakrishnan, and other senior officials participated in the review meeting.
