CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday unveiled the State's Warehousing Policy, which aims to promote the establishment of warehouses in the Delta and backward districts.
The policy provides various subsidies for setting up new warehouses, with a special focus on pollution-free initiatives.
According to the policy, warehouses established in the Delta and backward districts will be eligible for incentive schemes, including a 25 per cent capital grant and a 50 per cent concession on land cost.
Warehouses adopting pollution-free initiatives will receive an additional 25 per cent incentive on the total project cost. Employees of newly established warehouses will also be eligible for a 50 per cent subsidy for technical training.
Investors setting up warehouses on government-allotted land will be eligible for a 12 per cent subsidy, the policy said.
Highlighting the importance of recycling in industrial development, the State government has issued a separate policy for recycling industries. This policy offers a 10 per cent capital subsidy for recycling production units
Further, waste management technology companies will be eligible for subsidies of 30 per cent, 20 per cent, and 10 per cent in the first, second, and third years, respectively.
The government has confidence that through these policies, TN will achieve the number one position in the Warehousing and recycling industries.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Minister for Industries TRB Rajaa, Chief Secretary N Muruganandam, and Secretary to Industries V Arunroy were present at the event.
