CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Saturday inaugurated a new Mini TIDEL Park in Karaikudi, Sivaganga district, built at a cost of Rs 28 crore.
The facility is expected to generate employment for about 600 IT professionals and was launched under the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, said a Daily Thanthi report.
According to a Tamil Nadu government release, the TIDEL model dates back to 2000, when the late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi established the first TIDEL Park in Taramani, Chennai, laying the foundation for the state’s IT boom.
As part of continued expansion, foundation stones were laid on February 18, 2025 for new TIDEL parks in Madurai (Rs 314 crore, 5.34 lakh sq ft) and in Panchappur, Tiruchirappalli (Rs 403 crore, 5.58 lakh sq ft), both currently under construction.
Additionally, a 21-storey TIDEL Park in Pattabiram with a built-up area of 5.57 lakh sq ft was inaugurated on November 22, 2024. The government has also announced a new TIDEL Park in Hosur at a cost of Rs 400 crore, spanning 5 lakh sq ft. Tender processes are under way and construction is expected to begin soon.
Each of these projects is projected to create around 6,000 IT and IT-related jobs, further strengthening Tamil Nadu’s technology ecosystem.
