CHENNAI: Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the passing of senior Dravidian leader and DMK high-level action committee member L Ganesan, recalling his long and principled public life.

In his condolence message, Stalin described Ganesan as one of the key organisers of the student movement that rose against the imposition of Hindi, and a committed ideologue who served with distinction in the Assembly, the Legislative Council and Parliament.

He noted that Ganesan, fondly known as ‘LG’, enjoyed the trust and affection of late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and served as his parliamentary secretary when Karunanidhi was Chief Minister in 1989.

Stalin recalled his personal interactions with Ganesan, particularly during visits to Thanjavur, where the veteran leader would speak with pride about the people’s response to the Dravidian model of governance.

Describing his demise as an irreparable loss to the movement, Stalin conveyed his heartfelt condolences to party cadres, family members and friends, and offered words of solace to all those grieving the loss.
