    Parents and students await results at a school in Tiruchy

    MADURAI: Four districts in the southern region fared well in the Class 10 examination of 2024-25, with Sivaganga district recording a pass percentage of 98.31 for the first position in the state.

    The performance saw Sivaganga improving over last year’s pass percentage of 97.02. The district was second in the state last year. Among those who took the exam, 17,380 students, including 8,662 boys and 8,718 girls, excelled.

    A total of 17,380 students, including 8,870 boys and 8,809 girls from 278 schools, wrote the exam in the academic year of 2024-25.

    Moreover, sources said among 278 schools, 175 schools fared well, recording a centum pass percentage.

    Last year, a student from a government school in Ilayangudi brought laurels to Sivaganga district with a score of 498, the highest mark in Class 10 examination, and emerged on top in Tamil Nadu, sources said.

    Virudhunagar secured the second rank, recording 97.45. While Thoothukudi scored 96.76 per cent and stood third in the ranking, Kanniyakumari achieved 96.66 percentage and was ranked fourth in the state, sources said.

    Meanwhile, Tiruchy district secured rank 5 in the Class 10 examination for which the results were out on Friday, and Ariyalur, which stood first during the previous year slipped down to 8th rank this time.

    The Class 10 public examinations which were held from March 28 to April 15 and 9.13 lakh students appeared for the exam from across the state, in which 93.80 per cent of students were successful among them as many as 33,545 students appeared from Tiruchy district.

    In all 32,409 passed the exams from Tiruchy, and the pass percentage stood at 96.61, helping the district secure 5th place in the state. Previous year, Tiruchy was placed at 6 and 1.38, the pass per cent has also increased this year.

    Among the government schools, Tiruchy district, which was fifth-placed last year, secured fourth rank this year with 95.42 per cent. Out of a total of 445 schools, as many as 210 schools, including 92 government schools, secured 100 per cent results this year in Tiruchy.

    Meanwhile, Ariyalur district, which stood first in Class 10 results last year, could secure only the eighth rank this year.

    However, in classes 11 and 12, Ariyalur secured first place across the state. Perambalur was placed 7th, with Karur taking 10th place with 96.24 per cent. Thanjavur secured 12th place with 95.57 per cent, Tiruvarur was 13th with 95.27 per cent, Mayiladuthurai 23rd with 93.90 per cent, and Pudukkottai 25th with 93.53 per cent. Similarly, Nagapattinam district stood 31st with an average of 91.94 per cent results.
