Changes announced to Guruvayur-Chennai Egmore, Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram AC Express trains

CHENNAI: Southern Railway has announced changes in the pattern of train services following the approval of a fixed time corridor block in the Thiruvananthapuram Division for the month of January 2026.

1. Train No 16128 Guruvayur–Chennai Egmore Express, commencing from January 7, 2026 to January 27, except on January 11 and 18, will be diverted to run via Kottayam, skipping stoppages at Ernakulam Junction, Cherthala and Alappuzha. Additional stoppages will be provided at Kottayam, Changanassery, Tiruvalla and Chengannur.

2. Train No 22207 Dr MGR Chennai Central–Thiruvananthapuram Central AC Superfast Express, commencing on January 9, 16 and 23, 2026, will be diverted to run via Kottayam, skipping stoppages at Ernakulam Junction and Alappuzha. Additional stoppages will be provided at Ernakulam Town, Kottayam and Chengannur.

3. Meanwhile, Train No 16127 Chennai Egmore–Guruvayur Express will be regulated on select dates in January 2026.

The train will be regulated for 30 minutes on January 3 and 10, 90 minutes on January 5, 7 and 14, 1 hour 50 minutes on January 8 and 12, 60 minutes on January 9 and 13, 20 minutes on January 16, and 2 hours 15 minutes on January 20, 23 and 26.

Passengers have been advised to check updated schedules on NTES or the IRCTC official website or app before commencing their journey.
