CHENNAI: From high-speed rail and inland waterways to textiles, rare earths, eco-tourism and heritage sites, Budget 2026 outlines multiple projects for Tamil Nadu. Check them out below:

High-speed rail corridors:

Seven high-speed rail corridors have been proposed, including Chennai–Bengaluru and Hyderabad–Chennai routes.

Talcher–Ambur waterway:

An inland waterway linking Talcher in Odisha to Ambur in Tamil Nadu has been announced.

Textile sector integrated scheme:

A dedicated integrated scheme for the textile industry has been proposed.

Rare earth corridor:

A rare earth minerals corridor is planned in Tamil Nadu.

Pulicat lake bird trails:

Three new bird-watching trails will be developed along Pulicat Lake. The project is intended to promote eco-tourism and conservation.

Adichanallur archaeological development:

Adichanallur in Tuticorin district will be upgraded as a major archaeological tourism site. The plan seeks to attract more visitors and highlight Tamil heritage.
