Bridges inaugurated in Vellore, Cuddalore

Two railway overbridges, constructed by State Highways and Minor Ports Department, were inaugurated in Vellore district at a total cost of Rs 58.34 crore. The first bridge was constructed in Kaspa, between Vellore Cantonment and Kaniyambadi, at the cost of Rs 36.38 crore and the second bridge was constructed in Ariyur at the cost of Rs 21.96 crore.


After inaugurating the railway bridges, Chief Minister said that roads play a pivotal role in the social and economic development of the state and to cater the increasing traffic and for safer travel, the roads are widened and new bridges are constructed.


The Chief Minister also inaugurated a foot-over bridge constructed across Bharathi Road in Cuddalore at a cost of Rs 1.2 crore. The bridge was constructed with the MLA Local Area Development Fund from former Cuddalore MLA Arunmozhi Thevan. It will benefit 2,000 persons such as students of St Annal Higher Secondary School, Immaculate College students and people visiting cinema theatres and marriage halls.


Tirunelveli dams to beopened on Wednesday

The Chief Minister also ordered release of water from Kadananadhi, Adavinainarkovil, Ramanadhi and Karuppanadhi dams in Tirunelveli district for Karcultivation. The water will be released from Wednesday and will go on till November 25 in which 8,225.46 acres of farmlands would be benefitted.
