CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday accused the BJP-led Union government of deceiving Tamil Nadu ever since it came to power at the Centre, adding that no exclusive schemes had been extended to the state over the past 11 years.
"As far as I am concerned, the government must work for the people at all times, and administration should be simple and transparent.
That is why we launched the Ungaludan Stalin scheme," speaking while distributing welfare assistance at Tindivanam, Stalin added that through the initiative, several essential demands of the people had been addressed and resolved.
Launching a sharp attack on the Union government, the Chief Minister accused it and its allies of attempting to undermine Tamil Nadu's growth. Referring to the recent Union Budget, he said it had "nothing for Tamil Nadu, not even in name".
"Every year, the Budget document carries references to Tirukkural. But this year, there was neither the Tirukkural nor any meaningful development schemes for Tamil Nadu. Our decades-long demands were completely ignored," Stalin said.
He further alleged that the BJP's usual strategy was to allocate substantial funds to poll-bound States. "This year, despite Tamil Nadu heading for Assembly elections in a few months, there were no special fund allocations. This clearly shows their attitude," he said.
Mocking the Union government, Stalin said the BJP might have assumed it would face a defeat in Tamil Nadu and therefore decided not to allocate funds. "That may be true. We will win the election.
The next government will be Dravidian Model 2.0, formed with the support of the people," the Chief Minister asserted.
