TIRUCHY: Congress MP Karti Chidambaram alleged on Thursday here that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would hijack the Edappadi Palaniswami-led All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and take complete control of the State if the Dravidian major comes to power after the upcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, Karti Chidambaram alleged that the AIADMK had already lost its independence. He claimed the party was completely under the BJP’s control. “If the AIADMK forms a government in Tamil Nadu, the BJP will hijack both the party and the government.
The BJP’s larger agenda is to gain total control of Tamil Nadu,” former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram's son alleged.
He further claimed that the BJP leaders’ frequent visits to the State and their assertions on the Tamil language and culture were politically motivated and would last only until the elections were over.
Karti said the DMK-led INDIA bloc in Tamil Nadu was strong and confident of securing an absolute majority in the upcoming polls.
He asserted that the alliance remained united and focused on winning the election.
