CHENNAI: Amid a tiff with his father and PMK founder S Ramadoss, party president Anbumani Ramadoss has announced that he would conduct a state-wide march to demand that the government conduct a caste survey.
The announcement has come at a time when the father and son are trying to garner support from themselves among the party ranks. “I need at least 5 MLAs from southern districts and 2 MLAs from western districts. I will conduct a state-wide march with several demands. PMK should be part of the coalition government in 2026 and the party should form the government after that,” he said during a meeting with district-level leaders on Saturday.
Even as Anbumani met the office bearers from Friday to Saturday, he reiterated that he is the president of the party and he alone has the power to remove or appoint anyone in party posts–a direct response to Ramadoss, who removed Anbumani from the post of party president, apart from sacking many district chiefs.
“There is no permanent president in PMK. Ours is a democratic party. General Council will decide,” he addressed the cadre.
On the other hand, Ramadoss met media persons at his Thailapuram residence. Responding to a question pertaining to whether he would meet Anbumani, the senior leader said that there are several wonders happening in the world, and more wonders will happen.
