MADURAI: Training guns on the AIADMK, Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin alleged that the principal opposition party was now completely under the control of Centre-ruling BJP.
Addressing the general council meeting in Uthangudi in Madurai on Sunday, Stalin said, “That’s not to say that there’s no political enemy in sight of DMK and I reiterate this without the slightest trace of self-conceit.”
The ruling DMK has gained the advantage of pro-incumbency rather than the bane of anti-incumbency, he said, while also paying special attention on alliance partners who have been part of the DMK for the past few elections.
Noting how the party has notched consistent victories in elections ever since he took reins, Stalin attributed the series of successes that the DMK and allies recorded to the strong cohesion within the alliance. The DMK president asked the party leaders and cadre to work with allies together in unity for a more prosperous future.
“In my view, humility is one of the most important traits of leadership and I believe action speaks louder than words,” he said, and expressed hope that the DMK-led front would achieve a historic victory in the 2026 Assembly election.
The general council adopted 27 resolutions, including declaring June 3, the birth anniversary of late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, as 'Semmozhi Day'. It also resolved to focus on ensuring the party-led front’s victory in the 2026 Assembly elections and ensuring that Stalin returned as the Chief Minister. One resolution criticised the union government for denying Tamil Nadu its rightful financial share.
