CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government denied social media claims that the price of Aavin’s green milk packet has been increased by Rs 6 per litre, stating that no such hike has been implemented and that the information being circulated is misinformation.

The government said it had reduced the price of Aavin milk by Rs 3 per litre in 2021, soon after Chief Minister MK Stalin assumed office, and that the reduction continues to remain in effect, according to a Daily Thanthi report.

Aavin clarified that it has recently introduced a new milk variant named “Green Magic Plus”, enriched with additional Vitamins A and D. The new product has higher nutritional value, with 4.5 per cent fat and 9 per cent SNF (solids-not-fat).

It further stated that the existing Aavin Green Magic standardised milk, which contains 4.5 per cent fat and 8.5 per cent SNF, continues to be sold at the same price across retail outlets. The production of the older variant has not been stopped.

The government urged the public to refrain from sharing false or misleading information about Aavin milk prices.
